Mechanical properties can be optimized with heat treatment. Very high yield strength up to 1100-1300 MPa (160-190 ksi) can be achieved. The grade should not be used at temperatures above 300°C (572°F) or at very low temperatures. It has adequate resistance to atmospheric corrosion or in diluted acids or salts where its corrosion resistance is equivalent to grade 304 or 430. chromium-copper stainless steel standardised as UNS S17400, 17-4PH is highly resistant to stress corrosion, has good machinability, short-term, low temperature heat treatments that minimise warpage and scaling, and is considered to be more cost effective than many high nickel non-ferrous alloys.
Due to the high strength of 17-4PH, its main use is in aerospace and other high technology industries such as offshore, in gears, valves, turbine blades, nuclear waste casks, moulding dies and shafts, as well as having been tested in the petrochemical, petroleum, paper, dairy and food processing industries, and in such applications as boat shafting. The unique combination of properties within 17-4PH makes this alloy an effective solution to many design and production problems.Standard Specification:

Alloy 20 Pipe ASTM B729 N08020 DIN 17751 2.4660 is a high-corrosion resistant alloy, which shows very good resistance to phosphoric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid in chloric media. DIN 17751 2.4660 Alloy 20 is chiefly used in the chemical industry, apparatus engineering and heat exchanger.
Alloy 20 Carpenter 20, is a nickel-iron-chromium austenitic alloy that was developed for maximum resistance to acid attack, specifically sulfuric acid. This superalloy has excellent resistance to general corrosion, pitting, and crevice corrosion in chemicals containing chlorides and sulfuric, phosphoric, and nitric acids. It also contains niobium for stabilization against sensitization and resultant intergranular corrosion.
Carpenter 20 combines excellent corrosion resistance with elevated mechanical properties and relatively easy fabrication. Although originally designed for use in sulfuric acid related industries, Alloy 20 is now a popular choice for a wide variety of industries including the chemical, food, pharmaceutical, and plastics industries. In addition, this superalloy is used in heat exchangers, mixing tanks, metal cleaning and pickling equipment, and piping.
There has long been a debate on whether Carpenter 20 is a stainless steel or a nickel alloy because the nickel content is right on the border of defining it as one way or the other. So, depending on who you talk to this alloy may be referred to as alloy 20 Stainless Steel or as a nickel alloy. Either way it is still great for corrosion resistance.

HAYNES 25 (L605) is a non-magnetic cobalt based superalloy. HAYNES 25 (L605) maintains good strength upto 2150°F. AMS 5759 requires minimum yield strength of 45,000 psi at room temperature. HAYNES 25 (L605) maintains good oxidation resistance up to 1900° F. HAYNES 25 (L605) has a unique ability to resist corrosion in very severe environments. Highly resistant to hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and wet chlorine (subject to need for exercising care in its selection at certain con¬centrations and temperatures)

HAYNES 25 (L605) hardness is typically 250 BHN and never higher than 275 BHN by specification. Not significantly hardenable. Does not respond to customary aging treatments, but strain aging at relatively low temperatures (700-1100° F) can improve creep and rupture strength when the alloy is in service at temperatures under 1300° F.
